About Us
The Philadelphia Ramadan & Eid Fund (PREF) is a nonprofit dedicated to fostering a welcoming community across the Philadelphia region. Informed by Islamic tradition, we create safe spaces for celebration, education, and connection. We believe that gathering annually is a powerful path toward building long-lasting relationships and celebrating our region’s rich diversity.
Our Initiatives
Civic Traditions
We host signature events that bring thousands together in unity, including:
- City Hall Eid & Iftar Dinners: High-profile gatherings in the heart of the city.
- Eid in the Park Festivals: Large-scale community celebrations.
Youth & Education
We empower the next generation through Spring and Fall after-school programs focused on:
- Financial Literacy & Civic Education
- Cultural Competency
- School Partnerships: Providing gifts and event support for local students, including recent collaborations with Al Aqsa Islamic Academy and NSA Multicultural Academy
University & Healthcare Partnerships
We collaborate with local institutions to support students and families, including:
- CHOP Toy Drives: Partnering with Drexel MSA for hospitalized children.
- Campus Iftars: Sponsoring meals for Temple University’s Muslim student and medical associations.
Community Care & Outreach
- The PREF Giving Circle: Outfitting families for Eid through local partnerships, fulfilling wish lists, and providing holiday meals.
- Meals on Wheels & Family Fun: A program launched in 2020 that delivers Eid celebrations directly to the doorsteps of those in need.
- Compassionate Outreach: Partnering with the Elevation Project for “Iftar Beyond the Walls” at the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center.
At PREF, our service continues throughout the year as we work to ensure no neighbor is left behind.
